Mike Barker is a Consulting Electrical Engineer and Building Services Specialist with over 30 years’ experience in control and communication systems for a sustainable built environment. He holds a BSc Electrical Engineering from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Hosted within The Linux Foundation,  LF Energy brings together stakeholders to solve the complex, interconnected problems associated with the decarbonisation of energy by using resilient, secure and flexible open source software.

Nexus Labs Pro -  a community of engineers, energy managers, technology vendors, building operators, and real estate investors, seeking to bridge the gap between two cultures—that of technology at one end and millions of commercial buildings at the other.

SkyFoundry Forum – Enduser Group. Skyspark by SkyFoundry is a software analytics platform that automatically analyzes system-level building data and provides building insights, and an acknowledged Internet-of-Things Platform.

Project Haystack Forum - an open source initiative seeking to streamline working with data from the Internet of Things. Haystack provides standardised semantic data models and web services, and  encompasses the entire value chain of building systems and related intelligent devices.  ( naming conventions and taxonomies  )

Shanghai Intelligent Building Construction Association – Membership pending. The Association’s business scope includes conducting surveys and research, domestic and foreign exchanges and cooperation, and  standards preparation.  Relevant standard include :-

·   Technical Code for Energy Consumption Monitoring System of Public Buildings

·   Technical requirements for building energy-saving sub-meters and energy consumption data collectors

Independent Power Producers Association of South Africa - promotes the collective interests of IPP's in South Africa, and assists with public policy formulation and implementation. SAIPPA seeks to proactively engage with legislators, government officials, planners and regulators as part of its initiatives to achieve energy security in South, as well as Southern Africa.
